St. John the Evangelist

St. John the Evangelist is the author of the Fourth Gospel of the New Testament and one of the Apostles to follow Jesus during his earthly ministry.

His Gospel is different from the other three, which are usually grouped as the Synoptic Gospels. The Gospel of St. John is more of a theological reflection on the life of Christ. John begins to reflect on the implications of the life of Christ and the sacramental nature of the teachings and actions of Christ. The Christian tradition has symbolized the nature of St. John's Gospel with the picture of an eagle which goes soaring into the heavens.

We as St. John's Anglican Church seek to embody the emphases of the Gospel of St. John with our commitments to being liturgical in worship, orthodox in teaching, evangelical in mission, and ecumenical in thought.
